Bradford car retailer reverses advent this December

Bradford car retailer reverses advent this December

Some choose to indulge in chocolate or luxury advent calendars at this time of year, but one Bradford car retailer is reversing tradition this December.

Clive Brook Volvo is launching its reverse advent calendar and the team will be adding items to it each day throughout Advent. The items will then be donated to the local food bank and shelter, Inn Churches, to spread festive cheer throughout December, and into the New Year.

In addition to donations made by the team at the Bradford Volvo retailer, they are inviting the local community to get involved and help make a difference. Donations of non-perishable food and drink items, as well as other essential household items, are welcomed to be dropped into the retailer on Canal Road.

Clive Brook, Retailer Principal, said: “At this time of year, we are all hoping to see a big present with our name on under the Christmas tree, and thinking about a table full of delicious food on Christmas Day. However, we wanted to do something a little bit different in the run up to Christmas this year, and celebrate the season by giving instead of receiving.

“The reverse advent calendar seemed the perfect opportunity to get into the festive spirit and provide support for the those in the local community who might be in need at this time of year. Contributions, big or small, will be gratefully received with all donations together making a big difference to local people.

“We are very much looking forward to seeing just how many items we can collect, and want to invite the local community to drop off any donations into our retailer any day, from 1 December - 24 December, which we will deliver to the foodbank throughout December. We hope to make a difference to those who need a helping hand in December and into the New Year.”

Examples of the food items the foodbank will gratefully receive include, but are not limited to: cereal, pasta, tea or coffee, biscuits, tinned meat or vegetables and long-life milk or fruit juice. Other essential, non-food items, that can be donated include: toiletries including deodorants, shampoo and toothpaste; household products such as laundry detergent, washing up liquid and antibacterial wipes; and baby supplies including nappies and baby food.
