Mental Health Champion Crowned Winner Of Creamline Dairies Community Award

Mental Health Champion Crowned Winner Of Creamline Dairies Community Award

Creamline Dairies (www.creamline.co.uk ) – the long established, Trafford Park based family company – has announced that Stockport volunteer Irene Harris is the winner of this year’s Cream of the Community award.

Calling on the people of Greater Manchester and Cheshire to nominate community-spirited family members and friends, Irene’s commitment to highlighting mental health within the Stockport area really shone through.  Creamline was particularly impressed by her selfless approach to supporting those who both experience mental health issues, as well as carers and relatives who support their loved ones to find a better way of life.

Nominated by her fellow volunteer, Brigid Conway provided details of Irene’s amazing commitment to the cause, which include running Mental Health Carers Group Stockport, which supports carers to remove the stigma too commonly attached to mental health problems.  Irene also fundraises for the group and campaigns for further research into the causes and trigger points that lead to mental illness.

As the winner of the Creamline community title, Irene has received a £500 prize to be donated to Mental Health Carers Group Stockport, a community group that she personally runs, alongside a network of committed volunteers.

As well as being awarded the Creamline donation, Irene and Brigid are both set to receive a three-month supply of goodies from Creamline’s soon-to-be launched offering Best of Local service, which champions independent shops by linking customers to their local suppliers. Providing a hassle-free service, Best of Local allows shoppers to pick and choose the items they want from Creamline, with free delivery to the door.

Commenting on Creamline’s community initiative, joint managing director Rob Purvis said: “When we heard about Irene’s dedication to supporting those who have been affected by mental illness, we all agreed that she was a worthy winner of the award. Irene’s commitment and selfless attitude is incredibly inspiring, especially as mental health can be a difficult topic to discuss with friends and family.”

Commenting on her Cream of the Community win, Irene said: “I’m absolutely delighted and shocked to have won this Creamline award. Raising awareness of mental health issues is a topic very close to my heart, especially within the Stockport area, where there are many people who need support in dealing with this illness. At Mental Health Carers Group Stockport it’s our mission to help people recover a better quality of life and support their carers along the way, so I’m delighted to receive the donation, which will help others receive the support they need.”

Creamline prides itself on supporting the communities it serves. As well as the Cream of the Community award, the company also runs the long-established Creamline Lottery, which has awarded tens of thousands of pounds to local good causes - including Francis House and Cre8, the Macclesfield based Christian youth and community programme.
