Eight brave mountaineers from Pickerings Lifts’ Manchester office took on the three tallest mountains in the UK in 24 hours, raising over £3,100 for mental health charity Manchester Mind.
The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis, 1345m), England (Scafell Pike, 978m) and Wales (Snowdon, 1085m), a total walking distance of 23 miles and a total ascent of 3064 metres.
Warren Griffin, Customer Support Manager at the Manchester office said: “A lot of us at the office are keen walkers and we were looking to take on a big challenge as a team. Most of us have climbed the Three Peaks before, but we’ve never attempted it in 24 hours!”
The team started in Scotland where they climbed Ben Nevis, then travelled to Scafell Pike and then completed the challenge in Wales where they climbed Snowdon. They completed the challenge in 23 hours and ten minutes.
As well as climbing the Three Peaks, staff also held a charity day at the Manchester office to raise additional funds for Manchester Mind.
Warren said: “One in four people will experience a mental health problem at some point in their lives, and it can be so hard to speak up and get support. Mind Manchester do so much to help raise awareness and help people feel heard. Every penny earned will go towards helping this amazing charity and we’d like to thank all staff, suppliers, family and friends that have donated.”
