A new networking group has launched to connect businesses in the Greater Manchester area, while supporting a local charity. Founded by Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, the 99 Business Club aims to bring businesses from the region together for networking, publicity, social media promotion, new ideas and information, as well as to help meet their CSR objectives.
The 99 Business Club was officially launched at an event held at HSBC in Spinningfields, where special guest Christiaan McLeod, ex-Royal Marine and polar race leader, presented an inspirational talk about his adventures and leadership lessons he has learnt during his varied and impressive career.
Forget Me Not already runs a successful 99 Business Club for organisations in Yorkshire, with funds raised from the group supporting its children’s hospice in Huddersfield.
Businesses of all sizes and from all sectors are welcome to join the 99 Business Club. By becoming a 99er, businesses will be invited to quarterly networking events and invited to join a closed LinkedIn group where they can make further connections. Members can also benefit from online and social media support and promotions, as well as invitations to exclusive events.
To become a member, businesses are asked to set up a regular donation of just 99p a day to Forget Me Not, which will go towards funding Grace’s Place – a new children’s hospice opening in Bury in 2018 to provide care for 650 children with life-limiting conditions and their families in North Manchester.
Kirsty Franks, general manager at Grace’s Place, said: “Our launch event with Christiaan McLeod was a huge success and it was great to meet so many local businesses. We’ve already had a number of businesses from the Greater Manchester area support us in our fundraising drive so we can start providing a Hospice at Home service to children with life-limiting conditions in North Manchester from this Christmas. With further support from the local business community, we’ll be able to start caring for more children and families, and be another step closer to opening Grace’s Place next year.”
